Frequently Asked Questions

About Participating

Q: I’ve never been to anything like this. Can I still come?
A: Absolutely YES! This event is especially for people who are new to this. We will guide you through each step.

Q: I don’t know much about disability. Is that okay?
A: Yes! As long as you approach things with respect and a genuine desire to understand, you’ll do fine. This is a safe space to learn.

Q: I’m not sure I have anything to offer. Should I still come?
A: Yes, come! Everyone has something to contribute, even if it's just listening carefully and being willing to help.

Q: Can I bring a family member, friend, or personal assistant with me?
A: By all means, yes. Support people are completely welcome.

Q: What if I can only attend part of the weekend?
A: We encourage full participation, but we are flexible. Please communicate with us, and we’ll figure out a way for you to plug in.

Q: I have significant accessibility needs. Can you accommodate me?
A: We are deeply committed to making this event work for you. Please tell us what you need, and we will do everything in our power to accommodate.

About the Work

Q: Do I need to have a project idea before I come?
A: Nope! Most ideas are developed from group discussions during the event.

Q: What if I have an idea but no team (or no technical skills)?
A: That’s exactly why this event exists! Bring your idea, and we’ll help you find teammates with the skills you need.

Q: Do I have to commit to continuing after the weekend?
A: No, there’s no obligation. Participation during the weekend is valuable whether or not you continue with a project afterward.

About After the Event

Q: What happens to proposals that don’t get funding?
A: They still have a life! All proposals are shared with the community and can inspire future work or find support from other sources.

Q: Can I get involved after the event even if I didn’t attend?
A: Yes, please do! Contact us to see how you can connect with ongoing projects or future events.

Q: How can I stay connected with people I meet?
A: We facilitate ongoing connection through a network of practice and post-event communications for those who opt-in.
